Bob Olsen
OLSEN, Donald Robert "Bob"- passed away peacefully, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Thursday, September 14, 2017 in his 61st year. Beloved husband of Donna Jacobi. Cherished son of Marilyn Olsen. Dear step-father of Ken Jacobi (Sue) and loving grandfather of Aurora and Anderson. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother John Olsen (Cindy) and niece Nicci. Predeceased by his father Don Olsen and step-son Kraig Jacobi. Bob had worked at Fleet Industry for 40 years. BENNER FUNERAL SERVICES, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive their friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 22nd after 12 noon where a service to celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel at 1 p.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Douglas Memorial Hospital Palliative Care.
June Sauer
SAUER - June Diane Sauer (1941-2017) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, grandma, and great grandma on Tuesday, Sept 12, 2017 at the age of 76. She was the wife of the late Alvin (2001). Loving mother of Carole (Richard) Walpole, Barbara (Shawn) Stafford, Danny (Joanne), Michael (Edie), and Donna (Reid Tysick) Sauer. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Amy (Kyle) James, Lauren (Nick Dubanow), and Emily (Miguel Malbeuf) Walpole, A.J. (Elisabeth), Daniel, Jake, and Charlene Sauer, Melanie (Drew Berkel) and Michael Sauer, and Miranda (Michael) Jensson. Also, her great grandchildren Chloe Sauer, William and Penelope Dubanow, Charlotte and Carter James, and Eli and Colton Jensson. June is survived by her niece Dona (Richard) Schooley and by her cousin Gary Barnatt. Predeceased by her parents Evie and Bessie Morrow and her brother Donny. Scotty Volzke
It is with indescribable sadness, and shattered hearts, that we share the sad news that Scotty Reinhard Volzke had left this world in the early morning of September 5th. Scotty had just turned 44 a few weeks ago. Scotty will always be loved and treasured by his mother, Barb Volzke, and his sister Mandy. Scotty had struggles for much of his life, and now is free. He leaves behind his fantastic children Alexander and Brendon Volzke, and Heidi Bisson along with his grandson Lincoln. Scotty was predeceased by his father Reinhard in September of 2007. Scotty will be missed by his half-sister Betty Volzke. Also missing him are his grandmother Lillian Reynolds; his aunts Janet (Jimmy) Davis, Donna Epp, Linda Reynolds (Kevin Check), and Lisa Waytena; his nephew Rusty Crosby (Ashley), lots of cousins; and special friends. His partner, Laura Pearson, and her children will always hold Scotty close to their hearts. Laura he really loved you. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you do something special and unexpected for someone. Make a difference in someone's day. We never know what someone is dealing with. A private family gathering will be held. Scotty, we will love you forever and ever.
Felisha Swann
It is with great sadness to announce the peaceful passing on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the tender age of 30. Felisha was the cherished daughter of Charlene Simpson (Checker Brathwaite) and Robert Swann. Beloved granddaughter of Hugh and Carol Simpson. Sister to Sean Simpson, Trey Brathwaite, and Myia Swann. Felisha will always be in the hearts of her Aunt, Cherie Simpson - Barber; Uncle Hugh Simpson (Laura); and her cousins, Rylee, Rykelle Barber, Faith, Joshua, Jacob, and Andrew Simpson. Felisha will be missed by all her family, friends, and her most loyal and loving dog, Dash. Felisha was known as a very vibrant and loving girl who lived life to the fullest. Felisha accomplished many things in her short time with us. She was an athlete and a scholar. Benner Funeral Services (1105 Benner Rd., Fort Erie) has been entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8 from 2 - 4 and 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Felisha's Life will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 11am in the Chapel. After the ceremony, you are welcome to join the family for refreshments at the Fort Erie Legion (130 Garrison Rd.) If desired, memorial donations to the SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
Joyce Deschamps
DESCHAMPS, Joyce Lillian - passed away suddenly at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in her 98th year. Predeceased by her husband Emile (1992). Loving mother of Eddie Deschamps (Sigrid), Sandra Harkins (David), Brenda Butchart (David), Patrick Deschamps (MaryLou) and Andre Deschamps (Judie). She will be lovingly remembered by her 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. BENNER FUNERAL SERVICES were entrusted with arrangements and Joyce Deschamps was laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery on September 2, 2017. If desired, memorial donations may be made to The ALS Society of Canada or to The Juravinski Cancer Centre of Hamilton.
Lois James
James, Lois Miriam (nee House) - Lois passed on to her heavenly home peacefully in her sleep Monday, August 28th, at Nithview Nursing Home, New Hamburg. Lois was born on September 13th, 1924 - daughter of the late Fred and Ruby House. She married Kenneth James on May 28th, 1949. She is survived by her brother Clifford House (wife Carol) of Niagara Falls. Beloved mother of Margaret Winger (William) and Wilfred James (Louise). Cherished by her 5 Grandchildren, 10 Great- Grandchildren and one Great, Great Grandson. Lois worked and lived for most of her life in Fort Erie, ON and was a serving sister and officer of Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem the priory of Canada. She spent many hours serving St. John's and was very actively involved. Lois had a teacher's diploma from the Evangelical Teacher Training Association of Buffalo Bible School and was very involved in service to First Baptist Church in Fort Erie both in teaching and in Organ and Piano playing and music generally. Her love of music has been passed down through the generations. Special thanks to the excellent staff of Nithview, friends and family for their support with Lois's care. Lois's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 30th from 7-9 and Thursday, August 31st from 10-11am with the service following in the Chapel at 11am. Luncheon will follow the service with Internment in Fonthill @ 2pm.
Mac McGhie
McGHIE, Paul "Mac" - Passed away at Douglas Memorial Hospital at the age of 64. Beloved husband of Catherine. Survived by his children; Laura (Jason) Murray (nee) McGhie, Christopher (Melissa) McGhie, and stepson; Jordan Hay. Also survived by grandchildren; Andrew, Rachel, and Sophie. Visitation will be held at Riverside Community Church (2669 Niagara Pkwy, Fort Erie) on Saturday, September 2nd at 10:00 o'clock with the Celebration of Life at 11:00 o'clock. A reception to follow after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Cuban Missions through Riverside Community Church - Fort Erie, of which Mac was a proud supporter. Thank you to Dr. Scher and the nursing staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital.
Nathan Thomas-Daigle
Thomas-Daigle : Nathan Jospeph It is with profound sadness that Caitlin Thomas and Taylor Daigle-Winger announce the still-birth of their son Nathan Joseph in Buffalo on March 14, 2017. He will never get to experience the wonderful love of his older sisters Aryanna Thomas-Drennan and Leveah Thomas-Daigle, grandparents, Kerry and Joe Lafrenier, Jamie and Stacey Thomas, his Gigi Genette Daigle, Grandpa John Winger or Great Grandmother Nancy Drennan.
